An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Division of Surgery & Cancer in the recruitment of a highly motivated and dynamic Ophthalmic Nurse Practitioners and Senior Sister. The successful candidate must be an innovative, hardworking, and enthusiastic adult nurse with a broad range of skills and experiences. We are looking for an experienced ophthalmology nurse to work independently as an Ophthalmic Nurse Practitioner and Senior Sister in Ophthalmic Eye Treatment Centre at Whipps Cross University Hospital.
You must possess and be able to demonstrate excellent clinical, leadership and management skills. We are seeking to appoint a compassionate and caring nurse who will be able to work closely with the Senior Nurse to deliver outstanding care for our patients.
Main duties of the job
To work independently as an Ophthalmic Nurse Practitioner in the designated subspeciality including but not limited to Glaucoma, assessing, diagnosing, treating, prescribing. The post holder will be accountable for the provision of excellent nursing care and work collaboratively with other senior nurses in the department and the multidisciplinary team. They will ensure the safety and well-being of the patients and always work in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person-centered care principles. The post holder will also be expected to support the implantation of the Barts Health NHS Trust Nursing strategy and to provide expert daily management leadership and support to all levels of staff in the designated area within the Eye Treatment Centre. The postholder will also participate in the delivery and organisation of formal and informal teaching, lead on and participate in activities/projects which contribute to the provision and delivery of evidence-base practice, and they will be expected to set and maintain high standards of care in line with Trust vision & values and be accountable for auditing and monitoring those standards.
