Barts Health is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK, boasting 3 Emergency Departments, including the Royal London Hospital. We are a major trauma centre and hyper-acute stroke unit providing urgent specialist treatment to North-East London and beyond. We are an innovative team working closely with research colleagues to integrate pioneering, world-class care and treatments, developing new pathways and services to provide an efficient, patient-centered approach to emergency medicine.

The Royal London Emergency Department is proud to be the winner of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, 2018 Clinical Team of the Year, reflecting our ongoing mission to strive for excellence and provide the best emergency services. Our department also won the ‘Barts Health Hero Awards’ in 2018/19 in the respectful category.

The department is seeking a forward-thinking, highly motivated Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team in this busy Major Trauma Centre.

Main duties of the job

We aim to recruit a dynamic nurse with relevant Emergency Department experience, excellent communication skills, and empathy and compassion at the core of patient care. You will deliver high-quality clinical care, promote and maintain high standards of nursing within the current service, and take charge of the A&E department for shifts on a rolling rota, supported by a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse. You will be involved in shaping the future of the department and supported in developing your clinical, management, and leadership skills.

Our department offers exciting secondment opportunities, including the Physician Response Unit, which incorporates a nurse into the pre-hospital MDT response team. We encourage 'nurse champions' to lead in areas of interest and support quality improvement projects.

You should have relevant Emergency Department experience, an emergency care qualification, and a commitment to patient care and staff development, with a desire to promote change and development within our energized team.

Working for our organization

We promote inclusion and value diversity, fostering an equitable working environment where every individual can fulfill their potential.
