Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust's Western Eye Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join the Ophthalmology Emergency Department on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will provide high-quality care, perform triage, ophthalmic observations, administer medicines and support safe discharge in a busy ED.

You will join a multidisciplinary team, develop specialist ophthalmic skills through OPT training, and have opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• NMC Registered Nurse is essential.
• Some experience as a Registered Nurse required.
• Ophthalmic Course/Module desirable.
• Evidence of continuing professional practice desirable.
• Ophthalmic nursing experience in A&E or ophthalmology setting (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients with urgent ophthalmic conditions.
• Undertake triage, assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
• Perform ophthalmic nursing procedures and diagnostic tests using specialist equipment.
• Administer medicines safely in line with Trust policies.
• Monitor patient flow and support safe, timely discharge.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective care.
• Engage in education and professional development, including OPT training.
