An exciting opportunity for an Operator (Stores) in Birmingham, where you'll maintain materials and assist in inspections. Ideal candidates should have GCSEs in English and Maths, and training will be provided. Flexibility and decisiveness are key in this safety-critical role.
An opportunity is available for an Operator (Stores) based in Birmingham.
As an Operator, your duties will include the maintenance of materials & cables. Other responsibilities may also include carrying out routine inspection, maintenance, and repairs of tools and PPE. Additionally, your role will involve supporting the upkeep of stores and assisting in the inspection of network assets as needed. All necessary training will be provided to ensure proficiency in these tasks.
To apply, you will need to hold English & Maths GCSE (grades 1-9/G-A*) or an equivalent qualification deemed to be at the same level in these subjects, such as Functional Skills.
Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
The working environment requires quick, decisive, and responsible thinking and actions to meet the demands of the role. You will need to be flexible in your approach to assist the team in meeting its objectives.
Ideally, you will be trained to operate a Fork Lift Truck. You should be able to work under your own initiative in a safety-critical environment. Support will be provided to obtain any missing requirements that the successful candidate will be expected to acquire.
You will need to be mobile throughout the area and may be required to undertake out-of-hours standby duties as necessary to meet business needs.
Operationally, we require you to live within approximately 30 minutes of the depot you are applying for.
National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the company, colleagues, and customers. This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service (DBS) check, with different levels of screening and vetting depending on the role. Some roles may require a triannual check.
