Job summary

Veolia is seeking a Transfer Station Operative for Rochester Transfer Station. The role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a shift 1600–0030, and occasional bank holidays with a day in lieu. Salary £30,350 per year, prorated to £32,626.25 for the Rochester site.

Based at Rochester Transfer Station, Whitewall Road, ME2 4DZ. You will operate heavy machinery, perform routine maintenance, liaise with site teams, and help maximise waste throughput while adhering to safety and environmental

Qualifications

• Experience in an operational environment.
• Licence for mobile plant (loading shovel or 360 excavator).
• Full UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Front Loading Shovel and 360-degree Excavator to transport waste safely and competently after training.
• Routine maintenance and cleaning of mobile plant and equipment, including oil and water checks and reporting defects.
• Liaise with site personnel, contractors, tipping authorities and haulage department members.
• Ensure outgoing weights of material are maximised.
• Loading of vehicles with waste.
• Control vehicle movements.
• Operate the weighbridge.

What will you be doing?

What are we looking for?

Essential:

• Previous experience within a similar operational environment
• Mobile Plant licence/s - loading shovel or 360 excavator
• Full UK driving licence
