Job summary

Worcester City Council is seeking a hands-on grounds maintenance operative focused on sports pitch care. You will join a small team and work outside year-round, including weekends on a 1-in-4 rota, to keep pitches clean, marked, and fit for use, with related facilities upkeep.

You will operate mowing and machinery, assist in drainage and irrigation tasks, and contribute to park maintenance across Greenspace areas, taking pride in quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Experience working outdoors year-round.
• Full driving licence with BE1 category.
• Ability to operate power tools and machinery.
• Ability to work in a small team and take pride in work.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sports pitches to high standards.
• Line marking, drainage, and irrigation duties.
• Operate ride-on mowing and heavy machinery.

Job description

Worcester City Council is looking for someone to join our grounds maintenance team with a particular interest in sports pitch maintenance.

As part of a small team, which includes working 1 in 4 weekends, your role will provide high quality sports and recreational facilities.

Duties include making sure the pitches are clean and well maintained, line marking, drainage, irrigation, ride on mowing, heavy plant and tractor mounted machinery to carry out pitch renovation, fertilising and seeding. You will ensure that complimentary facilities like changing rooms and toilets are suitable for use and report any faults for repair.

As part of the Greenspace team you will be required to support work in our premier parks and green spaces, ensuring the parks and open spaces are clean and clear of litter and emptying bins.

We are looking for someone with experience of work outdoors all year around, has a full driving licence with category BE1, can use power tools and machinery, can work in a small team and takes pride in their work.
