Job type: Full-time, permanent

Are you an experienced Supervisor or Team Leader ready for your next step into operational leadership in the parking industry? We are looking for an Operations Supervisor to join our Rail Parking Operations team, helping to keep station car parks across the Thameslink / Great Northern network safe, well signed, fairly enforced and easy for rail passengers to use.

You will be a visible, hands-on leader. You will support and develop a team of Civil Enforcement Officers, maintain high standards across your sites and work closely with the Operations / Area Manager to deliver safe, reliable and customer-focused services. The role involves regular travel between sites, with a company vehicle and a work-time train permit provided.

If you have led field-based or multi-site teams in parking, civil enforcement, transport, facilities management or another customer-facing environment, and you enjoy solving problems and leading from the front, we would love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing
Leading your team
  • Lead, coach and develop Civil Enforcement Officers across your sites, setting clear expectations for standards and conduct.
  • Manage performance, including 1-to-1s, performance reviews, absence management, return-to-work meetings and investigations, in line with company policy and HR guidance.
  • Plan rotas, shifts, annual leave and contingency cover to maintain full contract coverage.
  • Onboard and train new colleagues, and make sure mandatory training and competence requirements are kept up to date.
Delivering the service
  • Take ownership of day-to-day delivery, KPIs and operational standards across your defined sites.
  • Carry out regular site visits and checks on signage, payment and parking equipment, cleanliness and site presentation, and follow up faults and actions until they are resolved.
  • Monitor performance and operational information, identify issues and help implement improvements.
  • Work with the Operations / Area Manager to resolve challenges, elevate risks promptly and improve performance.
Enforcement, compliance and safety
  • Make sure enforcement is carried out fairly and consistently, in line with company procedures, the BPA Code of Practice and, where applicable, the Single Code of Practice, including the quality of Parking Charge Notice (PCN) evidence and notes.
  • Support the Area Manager with PCN appeals and escalated queries by providing accurate, evidence-based information.
  • Promote safe working, including risk assessments, lone working and dealing with conflict, and make sure incidents and near misses are reported and followed up.
Customers and reporting
  • Handle customer enquiries and complaints professionally, identify root causes and recurring themes, and make sure customers have a positive experience.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and operational information, submitted on time using Excel and parking management systems.
What we’re looking for
Essential
  • Experience as a Supervisor, Team Leader or Assistant Manager, leading frontline or field-based teams.
  • Experience motivating teams and managing performance, including absence and conduct matters.
  • Good planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities across multiple sites.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build good relationships and stay calm and professional when dealing with conflict or difficult customer situations.
  • Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for rotas and reporting.
  • A full UK manual driving licence, with a record that allows you to be insured on a company vehicle.
  • Flexibility to travel between sites and to work early, late or weekend shifts when operationally required
Desirable: parking industry knowledge (a strong advantage)
  • Experience in parking operations or civil enforcement, including managing Civil Enforcement Officers and PCN processes.
  • Knowledge of the BPA Code of Practice and the Single Code of Practice.
  • Familiarity with parking systems such as ANPR, pay-and-display, pay-by-phone, handheld devices and signage requirements.
  • Experience in rail or transport operations, facilities management, customer service, or compliance and enforcement roles.
  • A management or health and safety qualification (for example ILM, CMI or IOSH).
