Job Description

The role involves leading the delivery of the Business Plan and Strategy to support Carnell's objectives of increasing market penetration in the South. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Identifying and securing a forward works programme with new clients.
  2. Growing the business with new clients.
  3. Improving profitability.

You will collaborate with clients, support their needs, and have access to Carnell Asset Management Tools, Subject Matter Experts, and a specialist supply chain. You will also provide monthly reports to the Operations Director covering workload, issues, client needs, and potential opportunities.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Client Relationships
  • Ensure all works meet contract specifications.
  • Maintain good relationships with clients.
  • Coordinate with clients to ensure a steady flow of work.
  • Ensure contracts comply with SHEQ documentation.
Resource Management
  • Ensure sufficient resources for all contracts.
  • Use company plant and vehicles efficiently.
  • Monitor and authorize working hours and exceedances.
  • Assist with contract-related paperwork.
  • Liaise with SHEQ department on training requirements.
  • Manage and operate a Carnell Scotland office.
People Management
  • Oversee performance and development of Contract Managers, Supervisors, and Foremen.
  • Organize pre-start briefings and toolbox talks.
  • Arrange training for employees.
  • Conduct annual appraisals.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience in contracts management within construction.
  • Understanding of highways drainage and specifications.
  • Knowledge of health & safety legislation.
  • Understanding of business strategy.
  • UK Driving License.
