Job summary

DP World in Minworth is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead a large-scale logistics operation. You will oversee approximately 300 colleagues across multiple shifts, driving performance, growth, customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be accountable for operational performance, people leadership, health and safety, and continuous improvement across a complex operation and key automotive customer.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating as an Operations Manager within a logistics, warehousing, or distribution environment.
• Experience leading large teams across multiple shifts in a fast-paced setting.
• Excellent customer and stakeholder management skills with experience managing key relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a large operational team across multiple shifts, ensuring high levels of engagement, performance, and accountability.
• Provide direct leadership to Shift Managers and specialist operational support teams.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders, ensuring service expectations are exceeded.
• Develop resource and manpower plans that support operational requirements while maintaining cost efficiency.
• Drive a culture of health, safety, quality and compliance across all areas of responsibility.
• Monitor performance through KPIs and data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Support the implementation of strategic objectives and translate goals into operational plans.
• Manage supplier and agency relationships to ensure effective service delivery and contractual compliance.
• Lead performance management activities including coaching, absence management and investigations.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and customer satisfaction.

About the Role:

At DP World, we are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead a large-scale logistics operation at our Minworth site. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will have overall responsibility for operational performance, people leadership, customer relationships, health and safety, and continuous improvement across a complex and growing operation.

This is a highly visible leadership role, managing an operation of approximately 300 colleagues across multiple shifts and working closely with a major automotive customer to ensure exceptional service delivery. You will play a key role in workforce planning, stakeholder management, operational efficiency, and supporting the continued growth of the site.

How you will contribute:

• Lead and develop a large operational team across multiple shifts, ensuring high levels of engagement, performance, and accountability.
• Provide direct leadership to Shift Managers and specialist operational support teams.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, acting as a key point of contact and ensuring service expectations are consistently exceeded.
• Develop resource and manpower plans that support operational requirements while maintaining cost efficiency.
• Drive a culture of health, safety, quality, and compliance across all areas of responsibility.
• Monitor operational performance through key performance indicators, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Support the implementation of strategic objectives and translate business goals into clear operational plans.
• Manage supplier and agency relationships, ensuring effective service delivery and contractual compliance.
• Lead employee performance management activities, including coaching, absence management, investigations, and disciplinary processes where required.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

What you will bring:

• Proven experience operating as an Operations Manager within a logistics, warehousing, supply chain, or distribution environment.
• Strong leadership experience managing large teams within a fast-paced operational setting.
• Excellent customer and stakeholder management skills, with experience managing key customer relationships.
• Demonstrable experience in workforce planning, resource allocation, and budget management.
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements within operational environments.
• Experience using performance metrics and operational data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Experience managing supplier relationships and working within contractual service environments.
• Automotive logistics experience would be advantageous, although it is not essential.
