Job Overview

Reporting to the COO, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day managing, functioning and oversight of the operations team. This role is well suited to a senior operations analyst looking to step up into a managerial position with greater responsibility and autonomy while maintaining the hands-on approach.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, detailed oriented and will be able to work independently. They will be someone who naturally seeks opportunities to improve processes and controls. The role will provide oversight to the operations team but will also work closely with other departments including portfolio management, risk, compliance and marketing.

Core responsibilities will include:

  • Managerial responsibility for the Operations team, currently team of one.
  • Strong understanding of the equity trade lifecycle including booking, matching and settlement across both DM and EM.
  • Cash and position reconciliations; monitor and resolve trade breaks promptly and effectively.
  • Margin calls/returns and collateral management.
  • Trade support – working closing with the portfolio managers.
  • Review daily NAVs from fund administrator; resolve NAV discrepancies.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with custodians, fund administrators, prime brokers.
  • Oversight of the outsourced MO/BO service provider on a daily basis.
  • Act as an escalation point for operational issues including resolving ad-hoc queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the onboarding of new clients, funds, and mandates, coordinating across internal teams and third-party providers.
  • Project management including onboarding of new funds/accounts.
  • Lead file and data transmission projects, requiring strong technical skills.
  • Work closely with compliance and legal teams to ensure adherence to regulatory obligations and internal policies.
  • Contribute to strategic improvements including process design, automation and operational enhancements.

Skills:

  • BSc (Hons) or higher in a relevant subject (Finance, Economics or related).
  • Experience in a relevant operational role in investment ops.
  • Strong problem solver; enthusiastic, inquisitive, and solutions-oriented.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and deliver process improvements.
  • Project management skills with the ability to fully understand the task at hand.
  • Detailed orientated self starter with excellent technical skills
  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • Solid understanding of CTM and Alert trade matching platforms.
  • Knowledge of Broadridge’ Portfolio Master System (aka Paladyne) is highly desirable.
