A client of ours, a university based in London that specialises in Economics, is looking for an Operations Manager to join their already established Estates team on a permanent basis. You will be working in the Residential and Catering Services Divisions (RCSD) in their brand new Residence for students, which has just opened. Working alongside other major universities in London, you will be part of a core group of outstanding universities providing a quality service to students studying.
Your new company
A university based in London, specialising in Economics, is seeking an Operations Manager to join their Estates team. You will work in the Residential and Catering Services Divisions (RCSD) in their new student residence, which is scheduled to open in Summer 2025. The division manages nine halls, with a total of approximately 4,200 student bed spaces, aiming to offer every first-year student a place in halls, with a target of around 6,000 bed spaces. The division employs over 200 staff and has a turnover of £31 million. The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day running of the new residence, working closely with a third-party facilities provider responsible for facilities management. Building a strong relationship with this team will be essential to ensure high-quality service for students.
Your new role
The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing reception services, staff line management, and ensuring high standards of service. The role requires being onsite daily, with working hours from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, with some weekend work during peak times such as check-in and check-out weekends. The successful candidate will have experience as a Front of House/Operations Manager in a student hall of residence or hotel, with proven team management experience in a customer-facing environment. Knowledge of Property Management Systems and adherence to health and safety legislation is essential.
