Red Sky is recruiting on behalf of our client for a strategic and experienced Operations Manager / General Manager to lead their busy workshop operations based at Gatwick Airport.

This is a key leadership role, ideal for someone with a strong background in automotive, engineering, or logistics operations. You will be responsible for driving performance, compliance, and service excellence, directly supporting the smooth operation of airport ground services.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and allocate engineering/operational resources effectively
• Ensure timely, cost-effective workshop repairs with the Workshop Manager
• Drive continuous improvement, reduce inefficiencies, and uphold compliance
• Manage budgets, reporting, and performance metrics
• Oversee vehicle and equipment standards, audits, and certifications
• Maintain strong client relationships and excellent service delivery
• Support recruitment, team engagement, and HR processes
• Ensure full compliance with airport, safety, and regulatory requirements

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

• Proven experience as a Workshop Operations Manager or in a similar role in the automotive or logistics sectors
• Strong background in workshop or engineering operations management
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams, optimize resources, and deliver results under pressure
• Sound understanding of health & safety, airport operations, and regulatory compliance
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of generating operational reports and performance analysis

Desirable:

• Higher education qualification in business, engineering, or operations management (or equivalent management training/experience)
• Experience in multi-site or remote site operational leadership
• Understanding of the equipment leasing and lifecycle management process
• Exposure to GSE procurement and technical specifications
