Job Description:

Our station in Newcastle-under-Lyme requires a qualified and motivated individual to join the operations maintenance team within the station as a Skilled Technician.

Working hours: 40 per week.

The role involves ensuring all plant and equipment on site is repaired and serviced to recognized standards and as identified within the preventative maintenance schedule, minimizing downtime of sortation equipment.

The Operations Maintenance Technician role requires excellent organizing and communication skills and involves:

  1. Organizing team maintenance and required equipment to ensure machinery operation and maintenance are completed safely and efficiently within operational timeframes.
  2. Monitoring workflow, identifying potential problems, and taking corrective actions.
  3. Effective communication with Depot and Operations Managers, Section Leaders, and Control Room.
  4. Ensuring smooth traffic transition across machinery with attention to Health and Safety.
  5. Completing all required recording sheets accurately on a nightly basis.
  6. Adhering to operational and maintenance procedures as per the Group Operations Manual to maintain customer service standards.
  7. Ensuring equipment is returned to designated areas after use and maintained in safe working order, with a system for reporting defects.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organized, hold a City and Guilds Electrical/Mechanical engineering qualification, and possess:

  • Knowledge of 16th or 17th Edition electrical regulations.
  • Proven electrical/mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Ability to read electrical schematic diagrams.
  • Understanding of PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Flexible approach to shift patterns.
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation.
  • Full driving license.
