Job summary

Veolia Newhaven ERF in Newhaven, East Sussex is hiring an Operations & Maintenance Assistant. The role involves operating mobile plant and forklift to manage process skips, performing routine maintenance checks, and supporting traffic management to ensure safe site operations.

You will also use the weighbridge and plant systems to record activity, while maintaining strong housekeeping standards. We value health and safety knowledge, clear communication, and flexibility to meet operational

• Current mobile plant and fork truck driving qualifications.
• Ability to operate a range of mobile equipment and fixed plant in an operational environment.
• Competent, intermediate computer skills with site systems.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
• Willingness to work paid overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile plant to empty process metal skips and unload deliveries of process consumables.
• Carry out routine maintenance checks on mobile plant, reporting defects promptly.
• Support on-site traffic management and maintain high housekeeping standards.
• Operate overhead travelling cranes following procedures and safety requirements.
• Record movements on weighbridge and maintenance computer systems.
• Provide hands-on support to operations and maintenance colleagues.
