Job summary

Prime Recruitment Services is seeking an experienced Performance and Operations Manager to oversee refuse collection and cleansing services for Newry, Mourne and Down District Council in Downpatrick. You will lead frontline teams, ensure safe, efficient delivery and drive improvements in service quality and customer satisfaction.

The role requires strong health and safety, leadership and performance management skills, with the aim of maintaining high standards of public service and governance.

Qualifications

• Experience in operational management, ideally within refuse collection, cleansing, waste management or a related service environment.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to supervise, motivate and develop teams.
• A sound understanding of health and safety, risk management and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and oversee refuse and cleansing services to ensure safe, efficient and customer-focused delivery.
• Lead, motivate, manage and develop employees and supervisory teams, monitoring performance against agreed targets and objectives.
• Monitor service delivery, analyse results, prepare reports and recommend improvements to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, including risk assessments and staff training.
• Manage attendance, performance and disciplinary matters, and work with staff representatives and unions.
• Support financial planning, manage allocated budgets and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Investigate complaints and engage with communities to promote recycling and litter education.
• Ensure governance and procurement procedures are followed and maintain information standards.
• Contribute to service planning and training programmes to boost operational effectiveness.
