Job summary

5 Star Recruitment is seeking a dependable Refuse Collection Driver on behalf of a local council in the East Midlands. The role involves operating refuse collection vehicles, loading and disposing of waste, and cooperating with the crew to maintain efficient rounds while following safety standards.

You will perform daily vehicle checks, report hazards, wear Hi-Vis clothing, and participate in training programmes including First Aid.

Qualifications

Duties must follow safety rules and regulations.
Induction and ongoing training are required.
Adherence to health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

To manage Refuse Collection operations on site and drive refuse collection vehicles safely.
To supervise and coordinate crews including temporary staff for rounds and related operations.
To undertake daily vehicle checks and report maintenance needs to Workshop/Manager.
To ensure plant and equipment are used safely and maintained per manufacturers' instructions.
To assist the crew with loading, transport and disposal of refuse.
To follow health and safety policies and ensure safety manual is available in the cab.
To wear issued protective clothing and maintain corporate image of the council.
To participate in training programmes including First Aid and IT-related procedures.
To comply with standing orders, financial regulations and departmental instructions.
To adhere to equalities and environmental policies and to partake in inductions for new staff and trainees.
To contribute to the introduction and development of new systems and procedures including IT.
