moveatech Limited is seeking an experienced Engineer with a solid understanding of networking and communications equipment to design, build, deploy, maintain, and recover sensor suites for marine surveillance. The role is HQ-based for hands-on build phases, with UK and international travel to deploy and maintain systems on client sites.

You should have experience in electrical engineering, a full UK driving licence, and the ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce water-tight cable looms and coaxial cables.

• Work to Works Orders, drawings and instructions.
• DC power wiring and marinized system installation.
• Fault finding and rectification.
• Collaborate with electrical designers to improve products and drawings.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Engineer with understanding of networking and communication equipment who will be responsible for designing, building, deploying, maintaining and then recovering or re-siting suites of sensors that gather data for marine surveillance.

The role presents an opportunity to help bring exciting emergent technologies into operation in a challenging and strategically important sector. Primarily at HQ for hands-on workshop-based build phases of projects, however, there is an expectation of travel across the UK and abroad to deploy and maintain these sensor suites across clients in the Caribbean (as an example).

We deliver integrated enhanced information to inform critical decisions in the marine environment. We do this by being experts in our domain and pioneers in Artificial Intelligence - we are constantly developing more advanced solutions and adapting the latest technology to address emerging challenges in maritime situational awareness.

We specialise in the design, manufacturing and operation of maritime surveillance equipment, operated remotely and autonomously.

About you

• You will ideally have experience in Electrical Engineering
• You hold a full UK driving licence
• You possess strong personal organisational skills
• You have strong and independent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• You are experienced with Windows OS and networking
• You have experience with communications systems and equipment
• You can demonstrate the ability to make decisions on the ground
• You either hold UK Security Clearance or meet threshold requirements.

Primary Skills and Responsibilities:

• Build and test of panels, control cabinets and distribution boxes
• Wiring and panel production
• Soldering, connector assembly crimping etc
• Test, interrogate and fault find a system
• Soldering, both at cable level and for PCB production
• Build and test of cables
• Battery cabling and termination
• Production of water-tight cable looms
• Production of a range of coaxial cable products
• Use and maintain electrical tooling including a wide range of cable crimping tools
• Electrical installation and fitout
• Working to Works Orders, drawings, engineering and production instructions
• Power wiring, typically DC
• Installation of marinized systems
• Fault finding and rectification
• Working with electrical designers to develop and improve products, methods and drawings
• Reporting of progress and any production issues
• Management of stock materials, consumables and good production housekeeping

• To ensure any equipment used is safe, within electrical test date and all guards and interlocks are working and in place
• To act safely and responsibly in line with company processes and Health and Safety procedures to ensure your safety and the safety of others
• To report any potential Health and safety hazards or violations to your supervisor/ line manager or directly to the QHSE manager
• To ensure any PPE or work wear required or provided for the job is worn and checked regularly for wear, and then reported when replacements required
