Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Operations Control Room Team Leader to join our logistics team in Avonmouth.

The core hours for this role will be Monday – Friday, 6am – 3pm (some flexibility may be needed)

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and deploying operational plans and forecasts to optimize capacity, performance, and resource management. This role involves monitoring, measuring, and reporting on warehouse performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and supporting the Nisbets Continuous Improvement programme.

Key Accountabilities

Plans and Forecasts:

  • Develop and deploy operational plans to optimize capacity, performance, and resource management.
  • Maintain simulation models for all warehouse operations.

Track and Analyze Warehouse Performance:

  • Identify and report on performance variances and areas for improvement.
  • Capture and verify data to support simulation models.

Problem Solving:

  • Implement immediate actions to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Conduct structured problem-solving to address root causes.
  • Monitor compliance with the Daily Management System.
  • Coach and support the operations team in using the DMS.
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings to review challenges and improve performance.
  • Implement and monitor standard work methodologies.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance control room procedures and warehouse automation processes.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Serve as the primary contact between the control room and other departments.
  • Monitor warehouse automation systems and respond to system alerts.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to manage downtime and recovery plans.
  • Maintain clear communication logs and incident reports.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Capabilities, Skills, and Experience Required

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in warehouse operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience with automated warehouse systems and control room operations.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and influencing skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Highly numerate, advanced Excel user, and ability to learn business-specific applications.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Technical aptitude and familiarity with automation technology.
  • Based in a modern, automated warehouse setting.
  • Involves working in a control room environment with extended periods of monitoring and system interaction.
  • Shift work, including nights and weekends, is required to ensure continuous operational coverage.
