Job summary

JDT Power Ltd invites applications for an Operations and QMS Manager. Lead operational planning across ICP projects and oversee the Integrated Management System, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. You will coordinate resources, manage audits, and drive continuous improvement within the utilities sector.

Reporting to the Head of Power, you will mentor planning staff and align operations with budgets, while maintaining NERS accreditation readiness and client specifications.

Qualifications

  • SHEA Power qualification.
  • Significant ICP, DNO or Utility Infrastructure experience in ops planning and programme management.
  • Strong understanding of NERS and ICP ops requirements.
  • NRSWA Supervisor.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • Internal Auditor Qualification.
  • Full UK Driver Licence.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Competent user of planning tools/software.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the operational delivery programme across all ICP projects, leading weekly planning meetings.
  • Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractor requirements with the Senior Delivery Manager.
  • Oversee street works permitting and ensure timely approvals.
  • Mentor and support the Programme Manager and planning function.
  • Maintain the Integrated Management System for ISO 9001/14001/45001 and NERS.
  • Lead internal and external audits and monitor NCRs and CAPAs.
  • Promote health, safety and environmental culture and CDM compliance.
  • Review RAMS and procedures, conduct site inspections and investigations.
  • Support NERS accreditation readiness and liaise with DNO/IDNO and clients.
  • Provide technical and operational support to delivery teams; deliver safety briefings.

JDT Power Ltd is embarking on an exciting phase of significant growth and we are expanding our senior team to support our future delivery. We are currently seeking a highly experienced Operations and QMS Manager to lead our operational planning and drive our quality management systems forward. This is a pivotal leadership position and we are looking for a dedicated professional with a proven track record of managing complex operational programmes and maintaining strict compliance standards within the utilities sector.

Job Purpose

Accountable to the Head of Power for the operational planning, coordination, and readiness of ICP projects, alongside the management of the Integrated Management System. This role involves the strategic oversight of quality, health, safety, and compliance across the business, including NERS and ISO standards. The objective is to ensure that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and to the required quality standards, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Mandatory Qualifications /Competencies
  • SHEA Power
  • Significant ICP, DNO or Utility Infrastructure Experience in Ops planning, programme management and resource coordination.
  • Strong Understanding of NERS and ICP ops requirements.
  • NRSWA Supervisor
  • Strong Knowledge of ISO 9011,14001 and 45001

Non Mandatory but Desirables
  • Lead Auditor qualification.
  • SMSTS.

  • Street Works Supervisor qualification.
  • Experience of HV and LV distribution networks.
  • Experience managing operational control centres or planning teams.
  • Knowledge of GIS or utility asset management systems
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the operational delivery programme across all ICP projects, leading weekly planning meetings and ensuring works are fully planned and operationally ready before mobilisation.
  • Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractor requirements, working closely with the Senior Delivery Manager to balance workloads.
  • Oversee street works permitting, ensuring permits and notices are secured before commencement to prevent delays.
  • Manage, mentor and support the professional development of the Programme Manager and planning function where applicable.
  • Maintain and manage the Integrated Management System to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and NERS standards, alongside maintaining relevant competency, training and accreditation records.
  • Lead internal audits, coordinate external client and DNO audits, and monitor NCRs, CAPAs and corrective actions.
  • Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and CDM regulations.
  • Review RAMS, procedures and operational documentation, whilst undertaking site inspections, safety audits and supporting incident investigations.
  • Maintain NERS accreditation readiness and ensure adherence to DNO, IDNO and client specifications.
  • Provide technical, operational and compliance support to the delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle, including delivering safety briefings and supporting competency assessments.
  • Work with the Commercial Manager to align operational plans with project budgets, assess the impact of programme changes and monitor operational, quality, safety and compliance KPIs.
  • Analyse performance trends to identify root causes, implement continuous improvement opportunities and produce regular management reports.
  • Attend internal, client and Local Authority planning and coordination meetings as required to represent JDT safety and compliance standards.
The Package
  • Salary: £55,000 to £60,000 per annum (dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience).
  • Transport: Company Car, branded van or a car allowance option.
