Can you run a successful operation while building its capacity for the next stage of growth?

MRG is supporting an entrepreneurial business with a highly confidential senior operational appointment. The organisation is seeking a leader who can strengthen delivery today while developing the people, systems and processes needed for future growth.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will establish clear visibility of programmes, resources, costs and risk across multiple teams and locations. You will turn commercial commitments into achievable plans, improve accountability and introduce practical controls that help the business deliver consistently.

This requires someone who can build and run the operation simultaneously. You will anticipate capacity constraints; challenge established methods and implement improvements while maintaining day-to-day performance. Your focus will be the wider portfolio, with the judgement to intervene directly when exceptional circumstances require it.

About you

You will have worked in construction, infrastructure, utilities, engineering services or an adjacent contracting environment, with an understanding of the practical challenges facing site teams and subcontractors.

You will bring:

• Demonstrated experience leading complex operations across multiple teams, locations and delivery partners.
• A track record of implementing systems, processes and reporting that improve efficiency, visibility and accountability.
• Experience supporting business growth, adapting operational capacity while maintaining delivery.
• Collaborative leadership skills, with examples of influencing stakeholders, securing buy-in and embedding change.
• Strong commercial acumen, including an understanding of profit and loss, margins, cash flow and resource planning.

You will be comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment, combining practical involvement with forward planning. You will earn credibility with technical and delivery teams and introduce structure while preserving initiative and ownership.
