London | £90,000 + Benefits | Hybrid Working
I'm working with a growing UK bank that's looking for an experienced Operational Resilience Manager to take ownership of how resilience is managed, tested and embedded across the business.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, bringing structure to existing processes and working closely with different teams to make things happen.
The foundations are already there, but as the bank continues to develop, there's an opportunity to bring greater consistency, visibility and accountability to how operational resilience is managed.
This isn't a role where you'll inherit a large team to do the heavy lifting. You'll need to be comfortable rolling your sleeves up, challenging existing approaches and taking responsibility for driving improvements.
The role....
You'll play a central role in developing the bank's approach to operational resilience, making sure the right processes, controls and testing are in place, and importantly, that they work in practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of the operational resilience framework, identifying opportunities to strengthen and simplify how it's managed across the bank.
- Bringing together resilience activities across different business areas, ensuring there's a joined-up approach to planning, testing, reporting and governance.
- Working with stakeholders to identify the services that matter most, understand their dependencies and assess potential vulnerabilities.
- Leading resilience testing exercises, challenging assumptions and making sure findings result in meaningful improvements.
- Providing oversight and consistency across business continuity, disaster recovery and crisis management arrangements.
- Developing clear, practical management information and dashboards that give senior stakeholders confidence in the bank's resilience position.
- Making sure activities, decisions and remediation actions are properly documented, evidenced and followed through.
- Working closely with technology, risk, compliance and other business teams to ensure resilience considerations are part of everyday decision-making.
- Supporting regulatory requirements and helping the bank demonstrate that its approach is effective, proportionate and well controlled.
Get in touch if you have...
- Worked within a banking environment and understands what it takes to build and maintain an effective operational resilience programme.
- Strong knowledge of UK operational resilience regulation and experience applying it within a bank.
- Practical experience developing, improving or embedding operational resilience frameworks, rather than simply overseeing them.
- A good understanding of important business services, impact tolerances, service mapping and scenario testing.
- Familiarity with business continuity, disaster recovery and crisis management, and how these disciplines fit together.
- The confidence to work independently, take ownership and influence people across different functions.
- Experience turning complex resilience activities into clear reporting, meaningful evidence and actionable improvements.
- A proactive, pragmatic approach, with the ability to balance regulatory expectations with the realities of running a business.
- Experience within a smaller or growing bank would be particularly interesting, especially if you've previously worked in an environment where you've had to be both strategic and hands‑on.
