Job summary

QinetiQ seeks an OME Operational Readiness Manager at the Boscombe Down site to lead licensed explosive facilities and oversee OME operations, safety, compliance and customer engagement.

You will coordinate facility activities, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage risk assessments, audits and incident investigations while promoting a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in OME operations, explosives safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Operational leadership and stakeholder management in high-hazard environments.
• Experience managing facilities, laboratories and technical operations.
• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, security, explosives regulations and safe systems of work.
• Skilled in conducting risk assessments, audits, assurance activities and control measures.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safe operation, compliance, and continuous improvement of licensed explosive facilities and laboratories, ensuring adherence to safety, security, quality, and regulatory requirements
• Manage the full lifecycle of OME activities, including receipting, storage, inspection, movement, accounting, disposal, and explosives safety management
• Coordinate facility operations, resources, equipment, contractors, and maintenance to support customer requirements and project delivery
• Act as the primary interface for customers and stakeholders, providing operational oversight and hazard management advice
• Conduct risk assessments, audits, inspections, assurance reviews, and incident investigations with effective control measures
• Maintain facility records, HSE management and promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement
