Job summary

Veolia Group is seeking a Maintenance Operative in Norwood, South Yorkshire (S21 2DR). You will perform proactive and reactive mechanical maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of equipment while following site safety rules and PPE.

Maintain plant performance and log health and safety information. The role requires an engineering apprenticeship and City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent, with experience in mechanical (and possibly electrical) fault finding.

Qualifications

• Recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
• City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in fault finding and maintaining predominantly mechanical (and possibly electrical) equipment.
• Attention to detail.
• Problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform proactive and reactive mechanical maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of equipment.
• Follow site safety rules and wear PPE for each task.
• Maintain regular communication with the operational team and supervisor.
• Adjust machinery and equipment settings to maintain plant performance.
• Investigate plant failures, determine root causes and propose cost-efficient recovery plans.
• Report health, safety and environmental incidents.
• Carry out PPMs and provide feedback.
• Maintain service records and KPIs.
• Supervise contractors.
• Keep a clean and safe work environment.
• Stop any unsafe tasks or activities.
