Job summary

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced nurse to join the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) team. You will work with the virtual ward and multi-disciplinary teams to support safe IV antibiotic pathways and coordinated care closer to home.

The role involves delivering OPAT/CoPAT care in the community, carrying out venepuncture and cannulation after training, and deputising for the Lead OPAT CNS as required. A Band 5 nurse with NMC registration is preferred.

Qualifications

• NMC Registration required.
• Mentorship and training experience.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Diploma in Nursing (Essential).
• Degree or working towards degree desirable.
• ILS (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Drive delivery of safe antimicrobial treatment in the community and patients' homes.
• Assess, treat and monitor OPAT/virtual ward patients on IV antibiotics or complexed oral therapy.
• Carry out venepuncture, cannulation and support CNS care for central venous access devices after training.
• Deputise in Lead OPAT CNS's absence.
