Job summary

Coleg y Cymoedd in Nantgarw is seeking a Wellbeing Coordinator to support learners with personal, financial and wellbeing needs. You will manage a caseload of about 30 learners and work 9am–5pm on site, with admin time from 3pm–5pm.

The role runs until the December term end, with potential for permanence following the usual recruitment process. An Enhanced DBS and EWC registration are required.

Qualifications

• Strong case management experience required.
• Experience in learner/student support or a similar environment.
• Excellent ICT and computer skills.
• Confidence navigating referral pathways and working with other agencies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build rapport quickly with young people.
• Practical, solution-focused approach to supporting learners.
• Ability to manage a caseload reactively in a busy setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-to-1 support to learners facing personal, financial, or wellbeing difficulties.
• Manage a caseload of ~30 learners with appropriate recording and follow-up.
• Respond to referrals and identify suitable internal/external support.
• Be the approachable first point of contact for learners.
• Support learner retention and mediate between learners, tutors, and staff.
• Provide guidance on financial support and entitlements (EMA, FCF, WGLG).
• Support applications to funds like Buttle Trust and Discretionary Assistance Fund.
• Coordinate with external organisations to develop support networks.
• Keep accurate records and ensure follow-up and case management.
• Respond calmly to reactive situations as they arise.
