Job summary

DXC Technology is seeking Linux System Administrators to join their Manchester teams. You will provide 1st and 2nd line support, monitor systems, and maintain documentation, while following ITIL best practices.

A proactive approach to identifying risks and a willingness to share knowledge are essential. The role requires strong UNIX/Linux skills, scripting ability, and experience with automation tools and virtualization.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in UNIX/Linux operating systems (Red Hat, Debian, Solaris, AIX, etc.).
• Shell scripting experience (Bash, KornShell, etc.).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef).
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS, SSH, FTP).
• Experience with filesystem management (LVM, ext4, XFS, ZFS).
• Ability to monitor and tune system performance (top, vmstat, iostat, sar).

Responsibilities

• Provide first and second level incident and problem support.
• Monitor overall system performance and ensure smooth operation.
• Create, maintain and utilise technical documentation.
• Assist building compliance with processes and policies.
