Job summary

DXC Technology is seeking Linux System Administrators of varying skill levels for our platinum account in Manchester. The role involves providing first and second line support, monitoring system performance, and maintaining documentation.

You will implement standards and continual service improvement within a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate will have UNIX/Linux experience, shell scripting, and familiarity with IaC tools, virtualization, and networking fundamentals.

Qualifications

• Experience with UNIX/Linux systems (Red Hat, Debian, Solaris, AIX, etc.)
• Shell scripting (Bash, KornShell, etc.)
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef
• Process and job control (cron, at, systemd timers)
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS, SSH, FTP)
• Filesystem management (LVM, ext4, XFS, ZFS)
• Performance tuning and monitoring (top, vmstat, iostat, sar, netstat)
• Exposure to automation software such as Ansible/Puppet
• Knowledge of scripting with Bash, Python, and/or Git
• Experience of AWS Automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
• Virtualization and containers (KVM, VMware, Docker, Podman)

Responsibilities

• Provide first and second level technical support on incidents and problems
• Monitor overall system performance and ensure smooth system functionality
• Create, maintain, and utilise documentation
• Assist building compliance with processes and policies
