Job summary

Hampshire County Council's IT Service is seeking an Onsite IT Support Technician to join the 2nd Level Support team in Winchester. The role involves providing desktop support, user equipment provisioning, and meeting room tech management, ensuring Windows and Microsoft 365 services stay available and effective.

You'll diagnose routine incidents, configure devices, maintain inventories, and contribute to IT projects. Occasional travel to other Hampshire locations is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in an IT support environment.
• Good knowledge of Windows and Microsoft 365.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite technical support for laptops, desktops, peripherals and meeting room technology.
• Diagnose and resolve straightforward IT incidents and service requests.
• Configure, deploy and maintain end-user equipment.
• Carry out meeting room technology checks and ensure rooms are ready for use.
• Support Windows and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Maintain equipment inventory records and stock information.
• Escalate complex issues to specialist teams with clear diagnostics.
• Produce user guidance and technical documentation as required.
• Contribute to IT projects and service improvements.
• Role based primarily in Winchester with travel to other sites as needed.
