Job summary

Dex seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with enterprise customers, translating ambiguous pains into deployed software across the stack. You’ll build backend services, data pipelines, and frontend UI components, while installing and debugging software on Linux edge hardware tied to legacy sensors and cameras.

The role requires hands-on Linux expertise, strong frontend/backend capabilities in Python and TypeScript, and comfort presenting architectures to non-technical stakeholders on-site

Qualifications

• Proven track record writing and debugging production software across the stack (Python backend to TypeScript frontend).
• Hands-on Linux systems experience configuring and troubleshooting software on physical hardware or edge deployments.
• Direct customer-facing technical experience and ability to present architectures to non-technical stakeholders on-site.
• Willingness to travel regularly and spend up to half your week embedded at customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Embed with enterprise customers up to half your week to diagnose bottlenecks and convert ambiguous requirements into production-ready software.
• Build and deploy full-stack solutions across the entire surface, including backend services, data ingestion pipelines, and responsive frontend UI components.
• Install, configure, and debug software on physical Linux edge hardware integrated with legacy sensor and camera infrastructure.
• Make ruthless real-time tradeoffs between execution speed and architectural polish in live client environments.
• Channel technical patterns, failure modes, and client feedback back into core product engineering to influence the platform roadmap.
