Dex seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with enterprise customers, translating ambiguous pains into deployed software across the stack. You’ll build backend services, data pipelines, and frontend UI components, while installing and debugging software on Linux edge hardware tied to legacy sensors and cameras.
The role requires hands-on Linux expertise, strong frontend/backend capabilities in Python and TypeScript, and comfort presenting architectures to non-technical stakeholders on-site
This role is with one of Dex's trusted partner companies. We work closely with their teams to truly understand their culture, goals, and what they're looking for, so we can match you with the right opportunity and give you context about the role before you commit to a process.
Most physical security and operational infrastructure is locked behind aging, proprietary sensors. This high-growth team builds a privacy-first platform that connects directly into legacy camera and sensor networks to deliver real-time operational intelligence and threat detection, without requiring customers to replace a single physical device. As a Forward Deployed Engineer on the Deployments team, you operate at the frontier where the software meets real-world enterprise operations. You will spend up to half your time embedded on-site with customers, translating vague operational pains into deployed capabilities—building data pipelines, backend microservices, UI components, and on-site Linux hardware configurations. This is not a sales engineering or post-sales support job, nor is it a sheltered product engineering seat; you own full-stack delivery from ambiguous problem definition to live, operational code.
