Job summary

Syngenta Huddersfield Manufacturing Centre is seeking an Onsite Engineering Planner to plan, scope, and deliver detailed work packages for maintenance and outages across electrical, instrumentation, mechanical and civil disciplines. The role requires gathering site information to underpin well-defined, executable job scopes.

You will coordinate between engineering, operations, and contractors, manage SAP CMMS work orders, and maintain a master plan for a 3‑month rolling schedule, ensuring safety

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in maintenance planning or engineering within chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, or heavy process industry.
• Experience planning across at least two disciplines: electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, or civil engineering.
• Demonstrated experience in shutdown, turnaround, or outage planning, including detailed job lists, execution schedules, and work packages.
• Proficiency in CMMS systems, specifically SAP Plant Maintenance, including work order management, equipment history, and task list maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of scheduling tools (Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Prometheus).
• Familiarity with engineering documentation such as P&IDs, equipment drawings, and specifications.
• Knowledge of permit-to-work systems, risk assessment processes, and site safety procedures.
• Experience in stakeholder management across multiple functions
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple scopes simultaneously under time pressure.
• HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience.

Responsibilities

• Attend job face across multiple disciplines to gather information and develop accurate job scopes.
• Prepare detailed work packages with sequences, resources, materials, drawings, permits and risk assessments.
• Build and maintain a 3-month rolling master plan for maintenance and outages.
• Coordinate with Asset Engineers, Operations, Projects and Contractors to integrate activities.
• Manage SAP CMMS data including work orders, equipment history and task lists.
• Lead weekly scheduling meetings and report on schedule adherence and resource use.
• Liaise with stores and procurement to ensure parts and tools are available ahead of work.
• Review plans post-execution to drive continuous improvement in planning quality.
