Job summary

Omexom is seeking a Design Manager for Project Harker in Carlisle, UK. You will own the design programme, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure design outputs meet client and Omexom standards, with regular on-site engagement at Harker.

You will lead design reviews, manage interfaces with planning, commercial and delivery teams, and drive safety-by-design and value-driven design throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in a related role.
• Experience on HV substation projects or UK transmission sector preferred.
• Proven ability to deliver design projects with attention to detail.
• Strong people development and team-building capability.
• Experience managing external and internal stakeholders at senior levels.
• Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural design teams.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the design programme for all schemes.
• Coordinate design deliverables with planning, procurement and construction.
• Oversee design quality, technical assurance, and CDM compliance.
• Manage design changes, EWNs, CEs, PMIs and contractual obligations.
• Lead design reviews and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams with clients and delivery teams.
• Identify design risks and support cost forecasting and risk management.
• Mentor assistant design managers and promote continuous improvement.
