Job summary

AWE is recruiting an Asbestos Management Practitioner for the Radiochemistry Group. The role is fully onsite at RG7 4PR with a 9-day fortnight and every other Friday off, and includes extensive regulatory and safety responsibilities.

You will perform surveys, maintain records, and contribute to the Asbestos Management Plan while following CAR Reg 4 and AWE safety standards. Training to advance to a qualified asbestos analyst is available.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of asbestos legislation, regulations, and standards.
• Experience with compliance systems is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and record keeping is essential.

Responsibilities

• Complete required training, qualifications, and site assessments for technical competence.
• Carry out asbestos surveys by inspecting buildings and equipment, sampling and assessing risks.
• Maintain accurate asbestos records and update inspection data.
• Support CAR Reg 4 compliance by applying management controls and updating risk scores.
• Maintain a register of ACMs and presumed ACMs.
• Input into the Asbestos Management Plan linked to the database.
• Schedule and document routine ACM inspections (approx. every 12 months).
• Ensure training levels for those managing asbestos are completed.
• Operate in line with health and safety legislation, AWE standards and regulations including Control of Asbestos Regulations.
• Opportunity to work towards becoming a fully trained asbestos analyst.
