Job summary

AWE is recruiting an Asbestos Management Practitioner for the Radiochemistry Group. The role is fully onsite at RG7 4PR, between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking and a nine-day working fortnight (every other Friday off). Starting salary is £29,490, with opportunity to progress toward an asbestos analyst role.

Qualifications

• Experience with asbestos surveys, inspections, or compliance systems is beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail with accurate information management.

Responsibilities

• Carry out asbestos surveys by inspecting buildings, structures, and equipment; sample and assess ACMs.
• Maintain asbestos records; update inspection data and risk scores.
• Support CAR Reg 4 compliance by applying management controls and updating the AMP.
• Maintain a register of ACM locations, types, and conditions.
• Contribute to the overarching Asbestos Management Plan linked to the database.
• Schedule and document routine ACM inspections (typically every 12 months).
• Ensure training for those managing asbestos is completed.
• Work in line with health and safety legislation, AWE standards and Reg requirements.
• Opportunity to progress toward a fully trained asbestos analyst.
