Job summary

Lift North Thoresby is seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support an individual pupil and occasionally small groups, helping create a calm, purposeful learning environment. The role emphasizes safe, seen, and supported development for young learners.

The candidate should be flexible, proactive, and passionate about primary education, with experience in schools and familiarity with Read Write Inc phonics. UK work eligibility applies.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting within a school setting.
• Familiarity with phonics programmes such as Read Write Inc.
• Understanding of child development and how children learn.
• UK right to work, as this role is not eligible for sponsorship.
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Supporting a child on a one-to-one basis or at times in small groups during focused activities.
• Encouraging language development through play, songs and conversation.
• Observing and recording progress, feeding this back to the class teacher.
• Supporting personal care needs with kindness and dignity.
• Helping to create stimulating, well-organised learning spaces.
• Building strong, trusting relationships with children, families and staff.
• Promoting good behaviour, emotional wellbeing and a sense of belonging.
