Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated One-to-One Teaching Assistant for a brand new school in Andover, Hampshire. The role is full-time, term-time only, with salary £21,257.48 - £23,232.69 per year.

You will mentor and support a pupil or small groups, aid the classroom teacher, and help ensure positive learning outcomes for pupils aged 5 to 18 with complex needs. Applicants should have GCSEs (English and Maths) at grade C or equivalent, relevant TA experience, and a commitment to

• Minimum GCSE grade C/Level 2 in English and Maths; basic IT skills.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant in an educational setting.

• Willing to take additional responsibilities within school areas (e.g., Food Hygiene, Forest School, lunchtimes).
• Demonstrated behaviour management techniques.
• Commitment to professional development.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil, or a small group of no more than six pupils.
• Support the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other school staff to ensure pupils' needs are met.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips.
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
• Set work where appropriate, and mark work.
• Build positive relationships with your pupil or pupils and drive interaction and positive learning outcomes.

Role Responsibilities

Requirements

• Have a strong basic education, ideally to A Level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills
• Previous experience in a similar role, i.e. Teaching Assistant
• Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting
• Be experienced and confident enough to take additional responsibility in an area of school, i.e. Food Hygiene, Forest School, lunchtimes or School Yoga
• Experience of behaviour management techniques
• Committed to professional development and willing to learn
