Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated One-to-One Teaching Assistant for a brand new school in Andover, Hampshire. The role focuses on supporting a single pupil or a small group, aiding the classroom teacher, and contributing to a safe, nurturing learning environment for pupils aged 5 to 18 with complex needs.

The successful candidate will have strong GCSEs, preferably A Levels, and prior experience in education or SEMH settings.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at C or equivalent required.
• A Levels preferred for higher study.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil, or a small group of up to six pupils.
• Support the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils' progress and concerns to ensure needs are met.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including activities and trips.
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
• Set work and mark where appropriate.
• Build positive relationships to drive learning outcomes.

Full Time, Term Time Only

Salary: £21,257.48 - £23,232.69

Location: Andover, Hampshire

Role Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil, or a small group of no more than six pupils
• Support the Classroom Teacher during lessons
• Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other school staff to ensure pupils' needs are met
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation
• Set work where appropriate, and mark work
• Build positive relationships with your pupil or pupils and drive interaction and positive learning outcomes

Requirements

• Have a strong basic education, ideally to A Level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills
• Previous experience in a similar role, i.e. Teaching Assistant
• Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting
• Be experienced and confident enough to take additional responsibility in an area of school, i.e. Food Hygiene, Forest School, lunchtimes or School Yoga
• Experience of behaviour management techniques
• Committed to professional development and willing to learn
