Job summary

Randstad Education in Andover is hiring a dedicated One-to-One Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with complex needs in a nurturing environment. You will work under the guidance of the class teacher, monitor progress, and help maintain a safe, inclusive classroom.

The role is full-time, term-time only, with a salary of £21,257.48–£23,232.69 per year, and requires GCSEs in English and Maths, plus SEMH experience and a proactive approach to professional development.

Qualifications

  • Strong basic education with GCSEs in English Language and Mathematics and sound IT skills.
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Experience with SEMH in an educational setting.
  • Willing to take additional responsibility in school areas (e.g., Food Hygiene, Forest School, lunchtimes, School Yoga).
  • Experience of behaviour management techniques.
  • Committed to professional development and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and support one pupil, or a small group of no more than six pupils.
  • Support the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
  • Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with staff to meet needs.
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including trips and activities.
  • Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
  • Set work where appropriate and mark work.
  • Build positive relationships and drive positive learning outcomes.

This brand new school has the capacity for up to 60 pupils and offers a safe and supportive environment for pupils aged 5 to 18 with a range of complex needs. Role Responsibilities
  • Mentor and support one pupil, or a small group of no more than six pupils

  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips
  • Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation

  • Build positive relationships with your pupil or pupils and drive interaction and positive learning outcomes
Requirements
  • Have a strong basic education, ideally to A Level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills
  • Previous experience in a similar role, i.e. Teaching Assistant
  • Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting
  • Be experienced and confident enough to take additional responsibility in an area of school, i.e. Food Hygiene, Forest School, lunchtimes or School Yoga
  • Experience of behaviour management techniques
  • Committed to professional development and willing to learn
