Job summary

Randstad Education seeks an One-to-One Teaching Assistant to join a brand new school in Andover, Hampshire. The role is full time, term-time only, with a salary of £21,257.48 to £23,232.69.

You will mentor a pupil or small group, support the classroom teacher, and help plan and prepare lessons for pupils aged 5–18 with complex needs. The successful candidate will have GCSEs in English and Maths, ideally A Levels, and prior TA experience.

Qualifications

• This role requires GCSEs in English and Maths, with A Levels preferred.
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant is essential.
• Experience with SEMH in an educational setting is advantageous.
• Willingness to take on additional responsibility in school areas as needed.
• Sound behaviour management skills are important.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development.

Responsibilities

• Support the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils' progress and concerns to staff.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time and trips.

This brand new school has the capacity for up to 60 pupils and offers a safe and supportive environment for pupils aged 5 to 18 with a range of complex needs. Role Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil, or a small group of no more than six pupils
• Support the Classroom Teacher during lessons
• Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other school staff to ensure pupils' needs are met
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation
• Set work where appropriate, and mark work
• Build positive relationships with your pupil or pupils and drive interaction and positive learning outcomes

Requirements

• Have a strong basic education, ideally to A Level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills
• Previous experience in a similar role, i.e. Teaching Assistant
• Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting
• Be experienced and confident enough to take additional responsibility in an area of school, i.e. Food Hygiene, Forest School, lunchtimes or School Yoga
• Experience of behaviour management techniques
• Committed to professional development and willing to learn
