Job summary

HFH Healthcare Limited is seeking experienced Complex Care Assistants to provide dedicated one-to-one care for an elderly gentleman with a high-level spinal cord injury at his home in the NW9 area. This is a non-domiciliary role with day and night shifts and a minimum commitment of 24 hours per week.

You will perform personal care, assist with mobility, catheter care and monitoring, while ensuring dignity, privacy and high-quality care within the family home.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months' previous care experience is essential.
• Availability for a minimum of 24 hours per week is essential.
• Compassionate, patient and respectful approach.
• Confidence assisting with personal care and manual handling.
• Good communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• Reliability and the ability to work independently within a care team.
• Experience supporting spinal cord injuries or complex physical care needs is desirable.
• Knowledge of catheter care and autonomic dysreflexia would be an advantage.
• A genuine commitment to promoting dignity, comfort and person-centred care.

Responsibilities

• Supporting personal care, hygiene and daily routines.
• Assisting with safe moving, handling and positioning.
• Supporting the use of an abdominal binder in accordance with the care plan.
• Providing catheter care, including prescribed catheter flushes where trained and competent.
• Recognising and responding appropriately to signs of autonomic dysreflexia.
• Monitoring comfort, skin integrity and general wellbeing.
• Maintaining accurate care records and reporting concerns.
• Respecting the client's dignity, preferences and family home.
• All specialist interventions must be carried out in line with the individual care plan, appropriate training and assessed competencies.
