Job summary

FORMATION Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our on-site teams in North Shields and Blyth. You will support engaging lessons, work with students in small groups and one-to-one settings, and help reinforce key learning objectives while assisting with lesson setup and materials.

The role blends academic content with creative, sport-based and personal development activities, contributing to a safe, inclusive learning environment and positive student progress.

Qualifications

• Experience assisting teaching in classroom or small-group settings.
• Strong verbal communication and active listening with young people and staff.
• Background in education, youth work, or related field with inclusive approaches.
• Ability to support foundational maths and other core subjects.
• Experience working with children or young people, building trust and positive behavior.
• Patience, empathy, and resilience across diverse learner needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engaging lessons and activities in small groups and one-to-one.
• Prepare learning materials and set up lessons.
• Monitor progress and provide encouragement to learners.
• Adapt activities for different learning needs and backgrounds.
• Support classroom management and create a safe, inclusive environment.
• Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver content.
