Job summary

Student Castle is seeking a Maintenance Assistant for Portland House in Exeter. This hands-on role involves carrying out repairs, maintenance, and compliance checks, coordinating with the Scheme Manager and contractors to deliver a rolling programme of works across the building.

You will participate in minor electrical tasks where qualified, support health and safety initiatives, and help manage budgets and daily planning. The role is 40 hours per week across any 5 days (Mon–Sun).

Qualifications

• Experience in multi-discipline maintenance and repairs.
• GCSE English & Maths at grade C or equivalent.
• Current driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Fault finding and repair across site buildings and maintenance of plant/equipment.
• Deliver on-site maintenance to a high standard and manage contractor work.
• Test, inspect and maintain electrical systems and building fabric where qualified.
• Keep work areas clean, minimise disruption to occupants and maintain safety.
