Job summary

Terberg Matec UK in Worksop is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team on-site. You will create and develop mechanical designs for refuse and recycling vehicles from concept through to production drawings, collaborating with Production and Engineering to ensure manufacturability.

Responsibilities include creating 3D CAD models, BOMs, and on-site evaluation of designs, with a focus on quality, cost, and timescales. DOE applies; salary up to £40,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical design or drawing office environment.
• Good knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
• Experience developing components from concept through to production-ready drawings.
• Experience designing products with manufacturing requirements in mind.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems involving linkages, pivots and actuators.
• Experience using Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D CAD software.
• Understanding of engineering quality processes.
• Clear communication with Engineering and Production teams.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D CAD designs and detailed engineering drawings.
• Develop components from concept to production-ready drawings.
• Design components, fabrications, machined parts and assemblies.
• Work with mechanisms involving linkages, pivots and actuators.
• Apply engineering calculations to support designs.
• Create BOMs for ERP and product config systems.
• Review and update drawings and docs as designs evolve.
• Work on site with Engineering and Production to understand manufacturing requirements.
• Collaborate with colleagues across Terberg Environmental Group.
• Consider quality, cost and timing throughout the design process.
