The role covers the design, development and delivery of bespoke recycling and materials handling systems from concept through installation and commissioning. You will produce GA drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, design conveyors and related equipment, create BOMs, and collaborate with customers, suppliers and manufacturing to ensure

Qualifications

• SolidWorks experience to produce 2D/3D GA drawings and assemblies.
• AutoCAD proficiency for general arrangement layouts and detailing.
• Experience creating GA drawings, detailed designs and engineering documentation.
• BOM management and ERP/MRP familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering aspects from concept through manufacture, installation and commissioning.
• Produce 2D/3D GA drawings and system layouts using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Design conveyors, structures, access platforms, walkways and related equipment.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers, project managers and manufacturing teams.
• Attend site visits for measurements, installations and commissioning support.
• Prepare technical specifications, manuals and engineering documentation.
• Drive ongoing improvements by refining designs and proposing innovative solutions.

Our client is seeking a proactive Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This is a varied role involving the design, development, and delivery of bespoke recycling and materials handling systems, taking projects from concept through to installation and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• The Mechanical Design Engineer will manage engineering aspects of projects from initial concept through to manufacture, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Produce 2D and 3D general arrangement drawings and system layouts using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• The Mechanical Design Engineer will design and develop engineering solutions including conveyors, structures, access platforms, walkways, chutes, and associated equipment.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings, models, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Work closely with customers, suppliers, project managers, sales teams, and manufacturing departments to deliver successful projects.
• The Mechanical Design Engineer will attend site visits to take measurements, support installations, and oversee commissioning activities.
• Produce technical specifications, manuals, and engineering documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement by challenging existing designs and identifying innovative engineering solutions.

Skills & Experience

• Strong experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Experience producing GA drawings, detailed designs, and engineering documentation.
• Knowledge of fabrication, sheet metal, and special-purpose machinery design, ideally conveyors or materials handling equipment.
• Experience with BOM management and ERP/MRP systems.
• Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
