Job summary

Nelson Permanent Placements are recruiting for a Health & Safety Environmental Manager on behalf of our client, a specialist in construction, refurbishment and fit-out. This hands-on role requires regular site attendance and liaison with site teams and subcontractors, reporting to the MD.

You will lead HSE/ENV standards, develop RAMS, and ensure ISO 45001/14001 and CDM 2015 compliance across projects while promoting safe, compliant operations on site.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate required.
• HSE experience essential with knowledge of CDM 2015 and UK legislation.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
• Strong communication skills and a valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation, monitoring and continual improvement of HSE/ENV standards across projects.
• Conduct site visits, monitor activities and conditions, and engage with site teams and subcontractors.
• Prepare and review RAMS; verify implementations on site and update where needed.
• Drive ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 compliance and environmental management on site.
• Support CDM 2015 compliance, liaison with clients and duty holders, and incident investigations.
• Deliver training, toolbox talks, inductions and safety briefings; manage corrective actions.
• Coordinate waste management, waste reduction and resource efficiency initiatives.
