Job summary

Hitachi Rail Limited is seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to be visible on site at the Stoke Gifford depot, driving health, safety and environmental excellence. You will own day-to-day HSE stewardship, partner with operations and shape how HSE is embedded across the site.

The role requires NEBOSH and ISO awareness, strong communication, and a practical, solution-focused mindset to keep people safe and maintain compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in HSE within engineering, manufacturing or similar complex environment.
• NEBOSH Certificate and a relevant Environmental qualification (e.g. IEMA).
• Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and environmental permitting.
• Experience as an internal auditor.

Responsibilities

• Champion a proactive, positive HSE culture across the depot.
• Develop, implement and maintain HSE systems and procedures.
• Lead on risk assessments, investigations and corrective actions.
• Deliver HSE training, briefings and toolbox talks.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety tours.
• Manage environmental compliance, waste, pollution control and sustainability initiatives.
• Support internal audits and maintain legal and compliance registers.
• Act as a trusted advisor to managers, engineers and external stakeholders.
• Deputise for the HSE Manager when required.
