Job summary

Samsung Cambridge Solution Centre in Cambridge, United Kingdom, seeks a hands-on Health, Safety & Facilities Manager to own H&S and facilities for office and lab spaces supporting around 150 people.

This role combines policy writing, risk assessments, BMS control, and contractor coordination with autonomy and a strong safety culture. Flexibility for occasional out-of-hours work is required.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
• Proven experience in a standalone/autonomous H&S and facilities role.
• Strong applied knowledge of UK H&S legislation in mixed office/lab environments.
• Experience writing H&S policies, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Working knowledge of BMS, fire alarm panels, and critical alarm management.
• Comfortable with administrative tasks such as purchase orders and budgeting.
• Experience managing contractors, RAMS review, and permits to work.
• Strong relationships with landlords and external stakeholders.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site competent person, owning H&S management and driving a positive safety culture across office and lab environments.
• Write, review, and update all H&S policies, procedures, and safe systems of work, ensuring ongoing legal compliance.
• Conduct and regularly review risk assessments including fire, COSHH, DSE, manual handling, lone working and maternity considerations.
• Lead accident and near-miss investigations, maintain reporting, and implement corrective actions.
• Liaise with insurers to ensure appropriate cover and compliance.
• Monitor regulatory changes and translate them into practical updates.
