On-Site Facilities Technician – Hands-On Maintenance

Job summary

Workspace Group Plc is seeking a practical Facilities Management Technician to join the FM team across our centres in the UK. This hands-on role focuses on inspections, first-fix repairs, maintenance tasks and compliance checks to ensure safe, clean and well-presented spaces for customers.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on maintenance experience, strong health & safety knowledge, good customer service, and the ability to work independently across multiple sites five days a week, using CAFM

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance experience in building services or facilities.
• Good understanding of health and safety within a building environment.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Comfortable using IT systems and mobile devices.

Responsibilities

• Carry out first-fix maintenance and minor repairs across our centres.
• Undertake basic decorating, painting and making-good works.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and complete tasks through CAFM system.
• Keep common areas, external areas and landlord spaces clean and safe.
• Identify issues early and proactively recommend solutions.
• Assist with waste and recycling management, ensuring areas are organized and compliant.
• Record all completed works and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Support Facilities Managers with coordinating maintenance contractors and suppliers.
• Conduct contractor inductions and toolbox talks.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure works are done safely and to standard.
• Ensure contractors comply with Workspace policies and minimize disruption to customers.
• Carry out daily and weekly building inspections.
• Complete fire safety checks, weekly fire alarm tests and emergency lighting inspections.
• Conduct water hygiene checks including outlet flushing and temperature monitoring.
• Inspect plant rooms, risers, roof spaces and service areas.
• Maintain accurate compliance records using our systems.
• Escalate health, safety or compliance concerns promptly.
