Job summary

Amey is recruiting an Electrician for a permanent role at HMP Whatton, Nottingham. The position offers 39 hours per week (Mon-Thu 07:30-16:30, Fri 07:30-15:30 with weekend rota and 15% allowance). Base salary £30,866–£36,135, depending on experience.

The role supports MoJ facilities management, ensuring safe, compliant and secure environments. You will perform planned and preventative maintenance, fault finding, and minor electrical works, with BS7671 compliance and safety at its core.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Level 2 electrical qualifications confirmed.
• BS7671 18th Edition knowledge; 17th Edition considered with upskilling.
• Good health and safety knowledge required.
• Experience with planned and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Planned and preventive electrical maintenance across the prison.
• Fault finding and problem solving on electrical systems.
• Carry out like-for-like replacements with testing and records.
• Ensure safety, compliance and secure, well-maintained environment.
• Assist Responsible/Authorised persons as required.
• Support health & safety and safe systems of work across tasks.
• Assist escorting duties and other duties as required.
