Job summary

Amey is offering a permanent Electrician role at HMP Berwyn, Wrexham. 39 hours per week with an early shift pattern and a 15% allowance for 1 in 5 weekends. Salary £30,866–£36,135 depending on experience. The role supports MoJ facilities across prisons in the UK.

The position requires City & Guilds Level 2 Electrical Installation or equivalent, BS7671 18th Edition, and strong health & safety knowledge. Authority to work in prisons and clearance will be required.

Qualifications

City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 Electrical Installation works or equivalent.
BS7671 18th Edition (will consider 17th Edition with upskilling).
Good working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.

Responsibilities

Planned and preventative electrical maintenance and admin duties.
Fault finding / problem solving on electrical systems across the prison.
Carry out like-for-like replacements and minor works with inspections and tests per BS7671.
Ensure electrical systems are safe, compliant, and functioning effectively for staff and residents.
Assist the Responsible person and Authorised person when requested.
Ensure Health & Safety standards, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work are followed across all work streams.
Assist escorting duties and other duties as required.
